The following stones are Australian Koroit Nut Opals. This type of opal is rarely seen here in the US; and even I have a hard time convincing my sources to sell them to me.
The below solid cut and polished matrix/nut opal comes straight out of a hand-dug mine in Koroit, Southwestern Queensland – Australia!
This type of opal is a combination of opal, iron and sandstone. This gives the stone a unique pattern and a very heavy and solid feel. Each stone below has an almost magically beautiful pattern and various degrees of color of sparkly red,blue, yellow and green. Some are colorfull in normal light, however, others are best seen in daylight.
Most of the below stones are beautifully double sided, ideal as a pendant! You will find the real thing is quite a bit more dazzeling than can be seen in the pictures!
These are genuine opals. There are no doublets or triplets here.
